Chequer Mead Theatre is a registered charity and community arts centre at the heart of East Grinstead. Since opening in 1996, our mission has been to provide a welcoming, inclusive space where everyone can experience, enjoy, and participate in the performing arts.
Our 336-seat auditorium, studio spaces, and on-site café, The Apron, host a rich and varied programme of live theatre, music, comedy, dance, film, and community events throughout the year. We are proud to support local schools, drama groups, and artists by offering affordable hire rates and professional facilities, helping nurture creativity and talent within our town and beyond.
As a charity, Chequer Mead relies on the generosity of individuals, sponsors, and local organisations to continue delivering a diverse programme and maintaining our historic building. Every donation, large or small directly supports our work, from improving accessibility and technical equipment to keeping ticket prices affordable and offering opportunities for community involvement.
By donating today, you are helping Chequer Mead remain a vibrant hub for culture, creativity, and connection in East Grinstead for generations to come.
