Jazz singer Imogen Ryall’s skilful improvising and her unique and heartfelt interpretations of the jazz standard repertoire have made her a popular performer with both audiences and musicians alike. She often works with saxophone ace Julian Nicholas (who has appeared with ‘Loose Tubes’, ‘Cloggz’, Claire Martin, Liane Carroll, Nikki Iles, Stan Tracey, Harry ‘Sweets’ Edison, Ronnie Scott’s House Band among others) and their strong rapport on stage will make for an evening of creative and engaging music. Imogen is well known as an imaginative lyricist, and singing her own words makes her musical message the more powerful.
Imogen & Julian’s 2019 ‘Anöna Trio’ album was critically acclaimed, as has been their recent work together on Imogen’s “Mingus/Mitchell Songbook” on ‘Rubicon-Jazz’, gaining regular airplay on JazzFM
“I love Imogen’s voice. She sings with heart and intelligence, sensuality and style; a natural musician.” Claire Martin OBE.
“His beautiful and creative playing makes Julian one of my favourite saxophonists” – Bobby Wellins
“Imogen and Julian have worked together in various ensembles for many years and this familiarity is evident in the relaxed, playful yet totally engaging rapport that they have between them.” – Steve Rubie, 606 Club
